Course Description: Algebra II is a continuation of Algebra I. In addition to reviewing and extending most of the concepts from Algebra I, this course includes additional topics of sequences, series, linear programming, exponential, and logarithms.
Materials: textbook, paper, pencil or pen, calculator (TI-83 or TI-83+ is the recommended calculator)
Behavior Expectations: This classroom is one where every person should feel welcome and respected. We need to treat each other in the same way that we wish to be treated. I expect my students to act safely, responsibly, productively, and respectfully. All are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct found in the student handbook. Your handbook explains the school’s expectations for punctuality, academic integrity, and behavior, as well as the consequences.
Class Notes: Algebra II is an upper level math course and will be handled as such. It is assumed that you will take good notes. If you need any suggestions on how to take notes, please see me.
Contacting Me and Extra Help: I am available for extra help or concerns in the morning before first hour, after school usually until 4:00pm, and during designated days at PRIME time. If you know that you will be coming in, it is always helpful to let me know in case I have a meeting, etc. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to contact me throughout the year with any questions or concerns. My contact information is listed on the home page.
Grading: The quarterly grades will be comprised of 100% Summative Tests. Each quarter will typically include about 4 tests. Tests will occur at the end of each unit, and students will be given a notecard which can be used on the test. Retakes will be allowed if the following requirements are met. (The same notecard that was used on the original test will also be used on the retake.) If a student is absent on the day of the original test, then they will need to use the retake as their only chance for taking the test. There will be no retake of the retake. If you know that you will be absent on the day of the original test (example: field trip, sports, etc.), then you will be allowed to make arrangements to take the test early, and keep the eligibility of having an opportunity for a retake.
Summative Tests will be returned for you to see, but you will not be allowed to keep them or take a picture of them. If you wish to go over your test with me, you must arrange for a time to meet.
The summative test retake window will only be open for 1 week following the day of the original test being returned.
Test Retake Requirements:
What Does A Quality Packet Look Like?
Extra Credit: Extra credit is rarely if ever provided in Algebra II. If an extra credit opportunity should arise, it will be given to the entire class. Students may not request extra credit on an individual basis.
Infinite Campus and Grades: I will assume that you, as a conscientious student and parent, will be regularly monitoring your grades on Infinite Campus. I try to keep my grades as up-to-date and accurate as possible, but I am human and occasionally there will be errors (examples: assignment marked missing that isn’t, wrong score entered, etc.). Checking your grades regularly will allow you to politely alert me to any concerns when it is still possible to fix them (not three weeks after the end of the semester).

- The unit packet related to the test they want to retake needs to be turned in at the quality level.
- Complete the test review related to the test being retaken.
- The completed Retake Test Form is turned in.
What Does A Quality Packet Look Like?
- All guided notes in the packet are complete, even if you are absent.
- Work is included that shows the process of finding the solution and is clear and easy to find on all “break for practice: and “extended practice” problems. Example: Formulas are shown. Steps are shown.
